UPDATES FROM PARKVIEW

May 2026

Message from Principal Ramirez

Dear Parkview Parents and Families,

As we approach the close of another remarkable school year, I find myself filled with gratitude and pride for all that our school community has accomplished together.

This year has been nothing short of extraordinary! Our Eagles have demonstrated curiosity, hard work, and a genuine love of learning that continues to inspire us every day. From academic achievements and creative expression to acts of kindness and leadership, they have grown not only in knowledge, but in character.

If you want to be impressed, take a look at a few of the accomplishments that our Eagles have learned this school year:
  • Three of our Parkview 8th grade students placed Third, Second, and First Place in MVSD's Speak Up (Speech) competition.
  • One of our 7th grade students
  • One of our Eagles won First Place in the Advanced level and two of our students earned First Place and Third Place at the Intermediate level in the MVSD Chess Tournament.
  • Nineteen (19) of our Eagles trained for months and completed the 26.2 miles of the 2026 Los Angeles Marathon.
  • Fourteen (14) of our Eagles in Aquatic Robotics will be traveling to the University of Maryland at the end of the month to compete in the 2025 International SeaPerch Challenge.
  • Ten (10) of our 5th Grade Eagles competed in MVSD's 2026 Conga Kids Semi-Final and our Eagles won First Place. They will be representing MVSD in the Conga Kids Finale Celebration on Thursday, May 7th, at The Novo at LA LIVE.

If you need more success stories, our very own Mr. Morentin (Middle School Math Teacher at Parkview School) was selected as Mountain View School District's 2026-27 Teacher of the Year!"

None of this would be possible without your partnership as parents and guardians. Your support, encouragement, and involvement have made a profound difference in your children’s success and in the strength of our school community. Whether helping with homework, attending events, or simply cheering your child on, you have played an essential role in this journey.

I am also deeply appreciative of our dedicated teachers and staff, who bring passion and commitment into every classroom. Their unwavering belief in each student has helped create an environment where every child can thrive by Capturing Kids Hearts on a daily basis.

As we celebrate this year’s accomplishments, we also look ahead with excitement and optimism. The foundation we have built together will continue to guide us as we strive for even greater success in the future.

Respectfully,

Rudy Ramirez

Supporting Your Eagle(s) During CAASPP Testing!

Pretty soon, our Parkview Eagles in 3rd through 8th Grade will begin to take their 2026 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) assessments, I want to take a moment to share what this means for our students and how we can work together to support them.

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is an opportunity for students to show what they’ve learned throughout the year in subjects like English language arts, math, and science (science is only for 5th and 8th Grade). It’s just one measure of their growth, but it does help us understand how we can continue to support and challenge each student moving forward.

More importantly, this is a chance for our students to build confidence, practice perseverance, and take pride in their hard work. Your encouragement at home plays a powerful role in helping them feel calm, prepared, and ready to do their best.

Here are a few simple ways you can support your Eagle(s):
  • Encourage a positive mindset—remind them that effort matters more than perfection
  • Help them get a good night’s sleep and start the day with a healthy breakfast
  • Make sure they arrive at school on time, relaxed and ready
  • Celebrate their effort and growth, no matter the outcome

A few kind words like “Just try your best” or “I believe in you” can make all the difference.
At school, our teachers and staff are creating a supportive and encouraging environment so students feel comfortable and confident during testing.

We are proud of how hard our Eagles have worked this year, and we know they are ready!

Thank you for being such an important partner in your child’s success. Together, we can help every student approach this experience with confidence and a positive attitude.

Because remember, "We are better together!"

Lights, Camera, Eagles! Inside Our Student-Run Newscast

We are excited to share what our Eagles are working on in our Journalism class!

Our Journalism students produce engaging, student-driven newscasts that highlight stories from across our school community. From start to finish, students take full ownership of the process—researching topics, writing scripts, filming segments, and editing their work—before bringing everything together into a polished broadcast.

In addition to newscasts, students also create short films and public service announcements, giving them opportunities to explore creativity while addressing meaningful topics. They further develop their writing skills by producing newsletters and other written content that are published on our class website.

Through these hands-on projects, students are building valuable real-world skills in storytelling, media production, collaboration, and communication. We are proud of their creativity, dedication, and the professionalism they bring to their work.

Thank you for your continued support of our Eagles and the many opportunities they have to learn and grow.

Parkview Families Rock!

Our school community continues to shine through the incredible participation and spirit of our families!

Recently, Parkview was thrilled to welcome over 150 parents and students to our “Pizza y Pintura” evening—an event filled with creativity, connection, and joy. Families explored different artistic techniques together, guided step-by-step by our amazing volunteer, Mr. Chris, as they created their own unique masterpieces. The evening was made even more special as everyone came together to enjoy a delicious potluck pizza dinner, sharing not just food, but laughter and meaningful moments.

It was truly a celebration of community, creativity, and togetherness!

And the excitement continued! Parkview also had more than 100 students and their families join us on a "Family Field Trip" to the beautiful Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden. This experience offered a wonderful opportunity for families to explore nature, learn together, and create lasting memories outside of the classroom.

These events are a powerful reminder that learning doesn’t just happen within school walls—it thrives when families and schools come together.

Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and helped make these experiences so meaningful for our students.

We look forward to many more opportunities to connect, learn, and grow as a community but we need your help and support!

Aquatic Robotics Eagles are Going to Maryland!

I am delighted to share some exciting news about our after-school enrichment program for 7th and 8th-grade students. In this innovative program, student teams design and construct Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) to complete underwater challenges—an experience that fosters creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

This year, our Eagles have demonstrated exceptional dedication and talent by participating in two regional competitions. At the Los Angeles Regional Competition on March 7th, Team Shadow Rays earned an impressive 2nd Place Overall, highlighted by their 2nd Place finish in the Mission Course along with strong performances in the obstacle course and their Technical Design Report. Team APEX Sailors also shined, securing 3rd Place in the Mission Course.

Their momentum continued at the Inland Empire Regional Competition on March 21st, where Team Shadow Rays achieved an outstanding 1st Place Overall. They excelled across multiple categories, taking top honors in the Obstacle Course, Technical Design Report, and Team Video.

These accomplishments are a testament to our students’ hard work, perseverance, and ingenuity. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and are excited to support them as they prepare for the International SeaPerch Competition this May at the University of Maryland.

Thank you for your continued support in encouraging our students to explore, innovate, and strive for excellence. We look forward to sharing more of their successes with you in the future.

Good Luck in Maryland, Eagles!

College Wednesdays

As part of our commitment as an AVID school, we’re always looking for fun and meaningful ways to build a strong college and career-going culture for our students. One exciting way we’re bringing this to life is through College Wednesdays!

Every Wednesday, we invite all of our Eagles—students, staff, and even families—to show their spirit by wearing a t-shirt, polo, sweater, or jacket from their favorite college or university. It’s a simple and fun way to spark conversations about future goals and inspire our students to dream big.

Whether it’s a school you attended, hope to attend, or just admire, we’d love to see it represented on campus!

We can’t wait to see our Eagles proudly showing off their college pride and aspirations each week. Thank you for helping us encourage a culture where every student can envision a bright and successful future.

Uniform Policy - Getting Ready for 2026-27

I would like to take a moment to highlight the importance of our school uniform policy and how it supports student achievement.

School uniforms play a meaningful role in creating a focused and positive learning environment. When students come to school dressed in uniform, it helps minimize distractions and allows them to concentrate more fully on their learning.

Uniforms also promote a sense of unity and belonging—reminding our Eagles that they are part of a community that values respect, responsibility, and excellence. Additionally, wearing a uniform encourages students to take pride in themselves and their school. This sense of pride often translates into stronger engagement in the classroom, improved behavior, and a mindset that is ready for learning.

When expectations are clear and consistent, students are better able to meet the high standards we set for their academic success.
We ask for your continued support in ensuring that your Eagle comes to school each day dressed in the appropriate uniform. Your partnership makes a significant difference in helping us maintain a safe, orderly, and achievement-focused environment for all students.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to your child’s success and to our school community. Together, we will continue to support our Eagles as they soar to new heights.
